LAHORE: Federal Education Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood said today Lahore that, “we do not close schools despite pressure from health authorities.”
“The National Command and Operation Center believes there’s a high risk of COVID-19 in schools.” said the federal minister.
Shafqat Mahmood highlighted that around 50 million children are linked with education and if someone got infected, the disease would spread.
While speaking at a ceremony in Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the minister shared his opinion about the pandemic situation in the country and its effects on the education sector. The minister said that government tried to keep schools open where things are better.
Regarding the March 24 meeting at the NCOC, he noted that government would implement the recommendations of the health and education ministers.
Earlier on Sunday, Shafqat Mahmood had said that an important meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday during which the decisions regarding the reopening or further closure of educational institutions would be taken.
Shafqat Mahmood took to social media to apprise of the threat posed by the prevailing third COVID-19 wave.
