US blogger Cynthia Richie has filed a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC), to prevent Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from registering a case against her.
According to the petition filed by Cynthia Ritchie FIA has been vested with the power to refuse to register an FIR if during the inquiry the information is found to be false.
“Under the FIA laws, registration of FIR is not mandatory, its always subject to the result of an inquiry,” read the petition.

It is to be noted that Additional District and Sessions Judge (ASJ) Jahangir Awan, on Monday had announced his verdict on PPP Islamabad President Shakeel Abbasi’s petition, directing FIA to register a case against Cynthia Ritchie for her remarks regarding late PPP leader and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
