Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has apprehended two terrorists with RAW links from Mirpurkhas.
DIG CTD – Omar Shahid Hamid, while addressing press briefing apprised that CTD carried out a night raid in Mirpurkhas.
During the operation, two terrorists working for MQM-London having links with Indian intelligence agency RAW were arrested, said DIG CTD Omar Shahid.
CTD has recovered an anti-aircraft gun, hand grenade, riffles and a rocket from the terrorists’ hideout.
Omar Shahid highlighted that the apprehended militants have received training in India and were tasked to gather intelligence Mirpurkhas and Umarkot.
An audio confession of Abdul Naeem – one of the arrested terrorist, was also played during the press conference in which the accused confessed that he was sent to India for training puposes by MQM leaders namely Wasay Jalil and Anees advocate.
DIG CTD Omar Shahid noted that they are looking into the accusations made by arrested militants regarding links between MQM leaders and Indian RAW.
CTD is investigating a case involving former MQM leaders, including Anees advocate, Wasay Jalil and Dr Farooq Sattar, he said.
Anees Advocate has been barred from leaving the country, his CNIC has also been blocked in this regard, noted Omar Shahid.
CTD has so far at least six people who had gone to India for training. MQM leaders including Farooq Sattar and Anees advocate will be questioned by CTD in this regard, added DIG CTD.
Furthermore, the press conference highlighted that Karachi Police had in fact caught a cell linked with Karachi University. The accused arrested from Karachi University were in contact with Mehmood Siddiqui who is a former president of the APMSO and is currently in India.
