Pakistan has extended its travel ban for United Kingdom (UK) till January 4th in light of revelations regarding new COVID-19 strain.
As per details, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan has extended its travel ban for United Kingdom after a new and more contagious strain of the coronavirus was discovered in the country last week.
The travel ban is applicable to all inbound direct and indirect flights from the UK.
However, Pakistani passport holders in UK will be allowed to return to Pakistan with following conditions:
- Negative PCR test performed within 72 hours prior to the flight
- Passengers to stay at the airport or in a government facility until a PCR test on arrival in Pakistan

The new COVID-19 strain was discovered via Public Health England’s genomic surveillance, said England’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty.
Following the announcement, countries including France, Netherlands and several others have imposed travel restrictions on travel to and from United Kingdom.
Other countries that have imposed UK travel restrictions include Germany, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Ireland, Canada, Turkey, Iran, Israel, Kuwait, Argentina, El Salvador, Morocco and Chile.
