Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri stated that the government intends to formulate and implement a uniform policy regarding the holy month of Ramadan that is unanimously agreed upon by every stakeholder and section of society.
“We will form this policy after consulting with religious leaders from all sects,” he noted.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad yesterday, the federal minister announced that speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser will approach religious parties on the issue.
The government outreach will also include opposition religious parties and leaders such as Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Siraj-ul-Haq, Sajid Mir, Sajid Naqvi, etc.
Expressing his views on the violations of the ban on congregational prayers, Mr. Qardi termed those incidents as ‘unfortunate’ and unnecessary and urged people to abide by the government’s social distancing directives.
Earlier, Noorul Haq Qadri had announced that any decision on Hajj 2020 would be made by 15th Ramadan as in March Saudi authorities had barred Pakistan from finalizing agreements relating to Hajj 2020 arrangements amid coronavirus pandemic.
