Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah on Friday (today), announced that COVID-19 vaccination will be initiated in Sindh from February 3rd.
Expressing his views at a press conference at Sindh Assembly, Nasir Hussain Shah apprised that Sindh government will initiate COVID-19 vaccination from February 3rd next week.
Doctors, healthcare workers will be inoculated in the first phase and will be distributed across ten districts, said Nasir Hussain Shah.
The provincial information minister noted that Sindh has received 82,359 COVID-19 vaccine doses out of the total 500,000 provided to the federal government by China.
The development comes as Sindh Health Department has already allocated Rs 1.5 billion for COVID-19 vaccine procurement.
Mr Shah also highlighted Sindh government’s intent to provide free COVID-19 vaccines to the people of Sindh.
Furthermore, he also apprised that Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has written to PM Imran Khan regarding the provision of COVID-19 vaccine for Sindh.
It is pertinent to know that Sindh has reported highest COVID-19 tally in the country with 244,340 cases so far.
