Sindh government has announced its decision to keep COVID-19 vaccination centers closed on Sundays amid acute vaccine shortage in the province.
CM Murad Ali Shah on Saturday (today) chaired a meeting of Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 to review coronavirus and vaccination situation in the province.
The meeting was also attended by provincial ministers Saeed Ghani, Azra Pechuho along with Murtaza Wahab, senior government officials and health experts.
The forum was apprised that so far 3,243,988 doses of vaccines have been received. Of them, 2,873,857 were utilized and only 370,141 were left.
The meeting decided to keep COVID-19 vaccination centers close on Sundays in wake of vaccine shortage across the province.
CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah has said that the province will receive 1.5 million doses of Sinovac will be received on June 21, 700,000 doses of Cansino vaccine on June 23, 400,000 doses of PakVac on June 23 while the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will be available in the last week of the current month or in the first week of July.
Primary Classes To Resume From June 21st
Sindh government has announced to reopen schools for primary classes from June 21st amid significant drop in COVID-19 cases and positivity rate across the province.
COVID-19 positivity rate in Sindh has fallen to 3.9% – a figure which was around 10% few weeks back. However, COVID-19 positivity rate has been recorded at 8.8% and 4.3% in Karachi and Hyderabad respectively.
The forum also decided to reopen shrines, amusements parks, indoor gyms from June 28th in light of improving coronavirus situation in the province.
