Government has sealed Parliament House on Wednesday after 30 of its staff members tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus.
As per details, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been charged with the responsibility to disinfect the Parliament House after 30 staff members from both houses tested positive for the novel virus.
Meanwhile, Senate and National Assembly sessions have been cancelled and will be rescheduled in wake of the coronavirus emergency.
According to sources, Parliament House will remain closed till November 9th, whereas limited staff members will be allowed to return to duty once its reopened.
Senate Chairperson Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar, and several other officials have gone into self-isolation as a precautionary measure in light of the recent development.
In addition to it, a new monitoring system comprising of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed within Parliament House for vigilance purpose to ensure strict implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally stands at 337,573 cases with 6,867 casualties, whereas 316,060 people have recovered from the novel virus so far.
According to NCOC statistics, new 1,313 coronavirus cases have been reported along with 18 deaths in the last 24 hours.
