Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity ratio is reported to have surpassed the grim 9 per cent mark.
Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity ratio has been recorded at 9.71 per cent – highest in recent months amid second COVID-19 wave that has gripped the country.
According to the report submitted to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 81 per cent of these cases have been reported in urban areas.
Meanwhile, 4,503 smart lockdowns have been enforced across the country to limit the virus spread.
More than 1.5 million people have been subjected to these smart lockdown directives.
COVID-19 testing has also witnessed a significant boost with more than 40,000 tests being conducted in the past two weeks.
Karachi has reported highest COVID-19 positivity ratio at 21.31 per cent followed by Abbottabad and Peshawar at 17.86 and 16.66 per cent respectively.
Area wise statistics of COVID-19 positivity ratio is as follows;
- Azad Jammu and Kashmir – 11.93 per cent
- Balochistan – 11.6 per cent
- Islamabad – 8.2 per cent
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – 8.22 per cent
- Punjab – 5.54 per cent
- Sindh – 15.38 per cent
- Gilgit Baltisan – 2.89 per cent
Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally stands at 420,294 cases with 8,398 deaths so far.
A total of 3,795 cases with 37 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 356,542 people have successfully recovered from the novel virus whereas 2,539 are still in critical condition.
