Pakistan’s COVID-19 daily tally surpassed grim 2,000 mark for the first time since July.
As per the statistics provided by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), Pakistan reported 2,165 COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours – the highest since July earlier this year.
A total of 34,535 tests were conducted, whereas 17 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
The development comes as around 1,808 COVID-19 cases were reported on Thursday, followed by an increase of 27 per cent with 2,304 cases on Friday a day earlier.
Cabinet division has directed that staff in government offices to be limited to 50 per cent, and the rest have been issued ‘work from home’ orders.
According to the issued notification, Secretary-I and II could decide about the attendance of their respective joint secretaries on a rotational basis.
Joint secretaries have the authority to decide about the 50 per cent attendance of their respective subordinate staff including deputy secretaries and section officers.
Face masks have also been made mandatory for all employees.
Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally stands at 354,461 cases with 7,109 casualties so far. A total of 322,414 people have recovered from the novel virus, whereas 1,316 are in critical condition.
A total of 4,881,640 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Pakistan with Sindh emerging as the most affected province with 153,873 cases.
Punjab has reported 109,309 COVID-19 cases, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – 41,723; Islamabad – 23,533; Balochistan – 16,328; Azad Jammu and Kashmir – 5,261; Gilgit Baltistan – 4,434.
