Pakistan Army is reported to have ordered 2 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine in order to further strengthen country’s inoculation drive against the novel virus.
As per details, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) transport plane will airlift 2 million doses of Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine from Abu Dhabi.
The additional 2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses will significantly bolster country’s on-going nation-wide inoculation drive.
It is pertinent to know that Pakistan launched nation-wide COVID-19 vaccination programme on February 3rd after receiving 500,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses from China’s Sinopharm on February 1st.
The COVID-19 vaccination drive was launched simultaneously in federal capital along with provincial capitals namely Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar.
People above the age of 30 can get themselves registered via sending a text message at 1166 or can visit (NIMS) website.
As per the NCOC statistics, 1,966,837 people have been partially vaccinated in the country, whereas 964,227 have been fully vaccinated so far. Meanwhile, a total of 3,836,291 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country.
Pakistan’s total COVID-19 tally stands at 882,928 cases with 19,752 deaths, whereas 795,511 people have successfully recovered from the novel virus while 4,361 are still in critical condition.
