Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has imposed a complete lockdown in Mardan for one-week, meanwhile National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has also mulled over imposing lockdowns in various cities in wake on worsening COVID-19 situation.
As per details, Deputy Commissioner Mardan Habibullah Arif has announced a one-week lockdown in the district as it become the epicenter of virus outbreak in the province with the highest positivity ratio of more than 40 %.
Meanwhile, NCOC in its meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Asad Umar on Monday (today), mulled over the possibility of imposing strict lockdowns in various cities with high COVID-19 positivity ratio and which have reported a significant increase in number of cases.
Furthermore, the forum also discussed closure of markets and malls, a ban on intercity public transport and the complete closure of educational institutions during lockdown in the affected areas.
In addition to it, NCOC has also announced the opening of COVID-19 vaccine registration for citizens who are above the age of 40, whereas people above the age of 50 will be able to receive COVID-19 vaccine via government’s ‘walk-in’ vaccination facility.
It is to be noted that Pakistan reported 4,825 new COVID-19 cases along with 70 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile country’s total COVID-19 tally stands at 8004,52 cases with 17,187 deaths so far. A total of 694,046 people have successfully recovered from the virus, whereas 4,862 are still in critical condition.
