More than 50 per cent of Pakistanis are willing to be vaccinated by a COVID-19 vaccine of Chinese origin, says a survey report.
According to a survey conducted by Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR), 56 per cent of the individuals who participated in the survey said that they are willing to receive COVID-19 vaccine, whereas 34 per cent refused to be vaccinated due to various reasons.
The report revealed that 25 per cent of Pakistanis still don’t believe that COVID-19 is real, 15 per cent termed it as an international conspiracy.
Meanwhile 60 per cent of Pakistanis believe coronavirus is a real threat.
Furthermore, 35 per cent of the participants preferred Chinese vaccine over the vaccine from other countries, 14 per cent preferred Pakistan-origin vaccine, whereas 9 per cent and five per cent of respondents preferred COVID-19 vaccine from US and UK respectively.
IPOR had conducted a similar survey back in June which showed 34 per cent of the participants refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
In addition to it, 56 per cent of the respondents expressed satisfaction over Prime Minister Imran Khan’s handling of COVID-19 pandemic.
The same number of people also said that opposition should postpone their gathering and public meetings amid deadly second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
Pakistan, like many other countries around the world are witnessing second COVID-19 wave resulting in significant spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths.
Country’s COVID-19 tally stands at 448,522 cases with 9,080 deaths so far.
Meanwhile, 2,545 new cases were reported along with 71 deaths in the last 24 hours.
A total of 396,591 people have successfully recovered from the virus, whereas 2,505 are still in critical condition.
