Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has sealed as many as 81 schools for violating COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines.
As per the government report issued on Wednesday, KP government has sealed a total of 81 schools over COVID-19 SOPs violations.
Out of the total 81 schools, 78 are government and the rest three are private schools, whereas 62 of the schools have been allowed to reopen after assurances from school administrations regarding strict implementation of COVID-19 preventive measures.
19 government schools are still sealed and have not been reopened.
The development comes as Pakistan is witnessing its second COVID-19 wave like several other countries across the world.
KP on Tuesday, reported a significant surge in COVID-19 cases with 226 new cases being reported within 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 41,096 in the province.
Four COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in the province in the last 24 hours, taking provincial death tally to 1,294
The report also highlighted that COVID-19 testing ratio has been increased to 1.51 per cent from the previous 1.12 per cent in October last month.
