Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, on Monday, announced provincial government’s decision to seal off COVID-19 hotspots in Lahore for a period of two weeks.
Speaking at a press conference, Dr Yasmin Rashid warned that ‘the pandemic is spreading rapidly in the provincial capital’ and that provincial government has decided to seal off the worst affected areas to curb the exponential virus spread.
“Many areas of Lahore will be shut down 12am onwards from tomorrow. Food stores and pharmacies will remain open in these areas,” she noted.

The areas that will be sealed off include Shahdara, Mozang, Walled city, Harbans Pura, Nishtar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, whereas various localities of Gulberg area will also be sealed off.
Furthermore, the provincial minister urged the people to strictly abide by the government SOPs, guidelines and ensure the use of face masks and hand sanitizers for that effective implementation of preventive measures can result in 50 per cent decrease in COVID-19 cases.
