SEOUL: The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) confirmed 47 new cases on Sunday that marked the third day in decrement in cases of COVID-19 which result in increment in death tally to 186, recovery tally to 135 and cases tally to 6598.
According to reports, since 29 Feb, it was the first time the number of cases dropped less than 50.
However, officials guided the sector to remain vigilant because there could be second wave of coronavirus in the country. Therefore, the campaign of social distancing has been extended for 14 days. Besides, government announced stricter policies and penalties for the quarantine-violating citizens who are required to 10 million won ($8,100) or imprisoned for a year with the fine of three million won ($2,400) as the government has observed 20 percent increase in socializing on weekend of the late March.
Although, cases are less reported, Vice Health Minister Kim Gang-lip told that the screening of less number of patients is the reason why less cases are reported. The minister said that the number of people, screened, has been dropped from 10,000 to 6000.
