A senior doctor who was being treated at Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar has died after contracting coronavirus a few weeks ago.
As per the details, Professor of ENT Dr Javed, after being treated for several weeks, passed away due to COVID-19 coronavirus.
Prior to this, on April 6, Dr Abdul Qadir Soomro, a veteran physician, breathed his last at a local hospital in southern port city of Karachi, becoming the third doctor in the country who succumbed to the virus. He was serving as the administrator of a charity hospital in the eastern outskirts of Karachi run by Al-khidmat Foundation.
Dr Osama Riaz – a young 26-year old physician became the first Pakistani doctor to die of COVID-19 on March 23. He had contracted the virus while screening pilgrims returning from Iran at a quarantine facility in Gilgil-Baltistan region.
Healthcare workers, who have been on the forefront of the fight against coronavirus, are facing an acute shortage of personal protective equipment (PPEs). Several doctors and paramedics were arrested in Quetta earlier this month for protesting against the lack of PPEs.
Pakistan has reported a total of 11,745 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 2,755 recoveries and 248 deaths so far.
