Punjab government has registered 300,000 healthcare workers who will receive COVID-19 vaccines in the first phase.
Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar on Tuesday (today), took to social media to apprise that 637 staff members of 189 hospitals across the province have been trained to carryout COVID-19 vaccination in the province.
The Chief Minister underscored that around 300,000 healthcare workers will be vaccinated in the first phase followed by people who are above the age of 65.
It is pertinent to know that Punjab has reports second highest COVID-19 tally in the country after Sindh with 150,316 coronavirus cases so far.
Earlier on Monday, Pakistan approved the Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, two days after AstraZeneca’s vaccine developed with Oxford University received a similar authorization.
The Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan (DRAP) said the vaccine, manufactured by China National Pharmaceutical Group (SinoPharm), had been given emergency use approval (EUA).
