Pakistan, on Wednesday, witnessed deadliest day with 136 COVID-19 deaths in a span of 24 hours, taking the country’s death toll to 2,975.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) 5,839 new coronavirus cases have been reported within the last 24 hours taking the national tally to 154,760 COVID-19 cases.
Furthermore, country’s largest city and financial hub, Karachi, had earlier reported 30 coronavirus related deaths in a single day.

It is to be noted that this is the second consecutive highest coronavirus death toll reported in Pakistan, as 111 COVID-19 deaths were reported a day earlier (Tuesday).
Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Monday, warned that coronavirus will reach its peak in the days between the end of July and early weeks of August, warning of a ‘very difficult time’ ahead.
