Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met with Mr Zamir Kabulov – Russian Presidential Envoy to Afghanistan and discussed bilateral relations, security cooperation and regional security issues on Friday (today).
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Zamir Kabulov – Russian Presidential Envoy to Afghanistan called on COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, today.
During the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security situation particularly developments in Afghan Peace Process were discussed. COAS said that peace in both countries is in greater interest of the region, said ISPR.
Furthermore, the Russian dignitary lauded Pakistan’s positive role in Afghan Peace Process and expressed his thoughts regarding strengthening of Pak-Russia bilateral ties in future.
Both sides reiterated the commitment to enhance bilateral relationship.
It is pertinent to know that Russian Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan, Ambassador Zamir Kabulov arrived in Islamabad on a one-day visit on Friday (today).
During the visit, Ambassador Kabulov will call on the Foreign Minister and meet with Special Representative for Afghanistan and other dignitaries for exchange of views on the latest developments in the Afghan peace process, said MoFA.
The visit of Ambassador Kabulov is part of Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach in support of the Afghan peace process. Besides the exchange of views on the Afghan peace process, the visit will contribute to further strengthening Pakistan-Russia bilateral cooperation.
