Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa me with Azeri security officials and stressed upon increased bilateral cooperation between the two countries, reported ISPR on Wednesday (today).
As per details, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa met with Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan – Colonel General Eyvazov Vilayat Suleyman Oglu, Chief of State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan – Colonel General Elchin Guliyev and Chief of State Security Service – Colonel General Ali Naghi Oglu Naghiyev in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, bilateral defence and security cooperation, regional peace and stability and cooperation in energy, trade and connectivity projects between the two countries.
COAS Bajwa stressed upon the need to increase mutually beneficial engagements between Pakistan and Azerbaijan at all levels and forums.
Emerging geo-strategic paradigm in the region necessitates our close cooperation and collective response against common challenges, said the Army Chief.
Meanwhile, the Azeri leadership and officials praised the high standards of professionalism showcased by Pakistan Army and acknowledged its contributions for conflict prevention in the region especially efforts for bringing peace in Afghanistan.
