Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, landed in Afghanistan on his day-long visit on Monday (today).
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS General Bajwa accompanied by accompanied by DG ISI on the day-long visit to the neighboring country, met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to mull over regional security situation and ongoing Afghan Peace Process.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, current developments in Afghan Peace Process, enhanced bilateral security and defence cooperation and need for effective border management between the two brotherly countries were discussed.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa once again termed peaceful Afghanistan is an essential prerequisite to regional peace. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s continuing support for ‘Afghan Led-Afghan Owned’ Peace Process based on mutual consensus of all stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Afghan Premier also expressed gratitude for a meaningful discussion and appreciated Pakistan’s sincere and positive role in Afghan Peace Process.
The Army Chief also met with Abdullah Abdullah – Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan and discussed matters related to Afghan Peace Process.
