Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa discussed matters of mutual interests and security ties with Japanese Defence Minister via video link on Thursday.
Japanese Defence Minister and COAS General Bajwa on Thursday, discussed military cooperation and mutual security issues between the two countries via video link, said Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The Japanese Defence Minister lauded Pakistan’s success in tackling locusts swarms crisis and COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Pakistan Army’s contribution in regional peace and stability and efforts to address the threat of terrorism is commendable, said the Japanese Defence Minister.
According to ISPR the two also discussed mutual cooperation and assistance in tackling coronavirus outbreak.

During the meeting General Bajwa and Japanese Defence Minister agreed upon initiating staff-level meeting, joint military training, anti-piracy operations and other means of improving and strengthening bi-lateral diplomatic and security ties between the two nations.
COAS Bajwa also expressed his gratitude to the Japanese envoy over Japan’s cooperation and assistance to Pakistan in wake of locusts swarms crisis.
