Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal Denys and mulled over bilateral relations and security cooperation between the two countries.
According to ISPR, on his official visit to Ukraine COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine where he held separate meetings with Shmyhal Denys – Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mr Uruskyi Oleh – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine.
During the meeting, the two sides mulled over matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan Peace Process and enhanced bilateral and defence cooperation in various fields.
Army Chief General Bajwa underscored the fact that Pakistan attaches great importance to furthering bilateral relations with Ukraine and believes that both nations would develop meaningful and long term relationship through enhanced cooperation.
Prior to this, COAS Mr Taran Andrii – Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Korniichuk — Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Syrskyi – Commander of the Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Avakov Arsen – Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, today. On arrival at the Ministry of Defence.
During General Bajwa’s visit, matters of defence and security collaboration between both countries and overall regional security situation were discussed as both sides agreed to further optimize military to military ties particularly in defence production, training, counter terrorism and intelligence domains.
The Ukrainian officials also lauded Pakistan’s sincere efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region and reiterated Ukraine’s desire for enhancing bilateral cooperation in all domains.
