CNG stations in Sindh will remain closed till July 9th next month, announced Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
CNG stations in Sindh were closed on June 22nd for a period of seven days and were set to reopen on June 29th today.
However, SSGC has announced that CNG stations in Sindh will remain closed till July 9th due to significant gas shortage being observed across the country.
Meanwhile, CNG stations in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will remain closed till July 5th, whereas gas supply will also be suspended for industries.
The CNG Association has rejected SSGC’s decision. Its leader Ghayas Paracha said that the institutional “incompetence” led to the gas crisis in the province.
Officials say that the closure of Karachi’s LNG terminal for repairs is the primary factor behind recent gas shortage in the country.
