Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has berated federal government over its failure to provide required funding to Sindh government resulting in several impeding development projects.
In a fiery press conference held in Karachi on Tuesday (today), CM Murad Ali Shah accused federal government of adopting a biased attitude against Sindh regarding issuance of developmental funds and various infrastructure and developmental projects.
Terming federal government’s attitude as that of ‘East India Company’, the chief minister accentuated that the Sindh government’s priorities, which is the representative of the people, are being overlooked by the federal government in financial allocations made for Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
Finance Division has announced 14 developmental schemes for Punjab, 10 – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 28 – Balochistan. Meanwhile, in Sindh funding amounting to Rs 1.5 billion has been announced for only two projects, said Murad Ali Shah.
Both these projects are not new, and have been announced by the previous government, he added.
Murad Ali Shah also noted that federal ministers have themselves confessed to allocating developmental funds to its own MNAs and MPAs, which in fact is a clear violation of 2012 Supreme Court judgement.
Developmental projects, schemes must be announced after consulting with the provinces as the provincial governments are much better aware of their own issues.
Despite the fact that Sindh is generating 70% of the total national revenue, the province has been subjected to unfair biasness by the federal government in terms of developmental projects and funds’ allocations.
The heated press-conference is a response to Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Asad Umar’s comments after he had refuted CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah’s letter to PM Imran Khan accusing the federal government of unfair biasness against Sindh.
