KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood considered the possibility of introducing a uniform curriculum designed by the federal government in schools across Pakistan, during a meeting at the CM House on Thursday.
Stating that education was devolved to the provinces under the 18th Amendment, the CM said that even so, the Sindh government would extend support to the initiative.
The syllabus under consideration, prepared by the Ministry of Education, would be taught in all government and private schools across the country.
Later in the meeting, the federal minister told Shah that Wafaqul Madaris alArabia and ulema had been taken into confidence on the matter of registration of madrassas, adding that ulema were cooperating with the government for the purpose.
The federal minister further said that divisional committees, headed by relevant commissioners, would be constituted to monitor the implementation of the government’s education plan pertaining to madrassa reforms.
