Maryam Nawaz’s husband, and senior PML-N leader Captain (Retd) Safdar Awan was produced before court in Quad-e-Azam mausoleum vilification case on Monday.
Safdar Awan on Monday, was presented before court on charges of vilification and damaging the sanctity of mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
The PML-N leader was taken into custody from a private hotel in early hours of Monday by Sindh Police.
The development comes as earlier, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, along with her husband Safdar Awan and a large number of party workers had visited and offered fateha at Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum on October 18th.
However, the visit had turned into a political stunt with Captain (Retd) Safdar Awan and party workers chanting political slogans – a violation of basic principles and code of conduct particular when visiting a tomb/mausoleum.
