Islamabad: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has reported a massive loss of Rs 3.618 billion in one month as a result of travel ban amid COVID-19 pandemic.
As per the details, the first 15 days led to cancellation of around 212 flights, resulting in a loss of over Rs 455 million with additional Rs 144 million lost due to the non-use of Pakistani airspace.
In the second phase, around 1,469 flights were cancelled from March 16 to March 31, resulting in a loss of Rs2.268 billion in the form of landing and other various charges. While the non-use of airspace added another Rs 751 million to the count.
In the span of one month a total of 1681 flights were cancelled due to travel ban imposed by Pakistan and other countries – resulting in loss of Rs 3.618 billion to CAA.
