LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has ordered an immediate probe into the death of a 73 year old patient at Mayo Hospital’s isolation ward whose hands and feet could be seen tied to the hospital bed in a video now viral on social media.
The video also shows the patient pleading for medical care. The patient was reportedly denied care in terms of medication, oxygen, etc due to which he succumbed to death.
CM Punjab ordered a ‘detailed inquiry’ from the concerned officials. A tweet by Government of Punjab reads: “Strict action will be taken if anyone is found guilty” – CM Buzdar.
Mayo Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr Asad Aslam claimed that the patient died of his heart condition. The doctors are increasingly complaining about the lack of safety kits which is hampering their work. Due to the situation, the hospital administration began action against Senior Registrar Dr Sheheryar for refusing to treat patients without protective gear.
