Bilquis Edhi – wife of Abdul Sattar Edhi (late), has been shortlisted for ‘Person of Decade’ award for her philanthropist work and services.
As per details, Impact Hallmarks – an international organization, has shortlisted Bilquid Edhi for ‘Person of Decade’ award for her role and social services.
An online public poll is being carried out for public’s opinion regarding person of decade award with respect to the impact value of the shortlisted individuals, said a statement issued by Edhi Foundation and SAARC-ASEAN Post-Doctoral Academia Directorate.
Professor Yanghee Lee is also one of the contenders for person of decade awards for raising the issue of Rohingya refugees.
Who is Bilquis Edhi?
Bilquis Bano Edhi, also called ‘The Mother of Pakistan’, is the co-chair of Edhi Foundation. She was born in 1947 in Bantva. She received the 1986 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service. In 2015, she received the Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice.
Her charity runs many services in Pakistan including a hospital and emergency service in Karachi. Together with her husband their charity has saved over 16,000 unwanted babies.
