The Balochistan government, on Tuesday, announced to extend the province-wide coronavirus lockdown till May 19.
Liaquat Shahwani – Balochistan government Spokesperson, took to social media to announce the government’s decision to extend the COVID-19 lockdown due to continuous increase in coronavirus cases in the province.
“Balochistan Government has decided to extend Lockdown for further 15 days till 19th May,” he tweeted.
The spokesperson further added that the only solution to the pandemic is to strictly abide by the social distancing measures recommended by the government and health care experts.
Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal, has expressed serious concerns over increase in local transmissions and the lockdown directives could only be ease if the people cooperate with the government in its efforts to curb the virus spread.
CM also stressed upon the significance of improvement in the testing capacity, and that Balochistan government is using all its resources to increase the COVID-19 testing capacity, which in fact has improved in the past few weeks.
Balochistan has reported a total of 1,321 confirmed
coronavirus cases, with 197 recoveries and 21 deaths so far.
