Bahrain has become the second country to approve COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer.
As per details, Bahrain has become the second country in the world to greenlight COVID-19 vaccine by approving Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine to curb coronavirus spread.
“The approval of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will add a further important layer to the kingdom’s national Covid-19 response,”said Dr Mariam Al Jalahma – Chief Executive National Health Regulatory Authority .
Meanwhile, Lindsey Dietschi, head of Pfizer in the Gulf has termed Bahrain’s decision to approve the vaccine as ‘historic’ in global efforts against coronavirus.
BioNTech, which owns the vaccine, said it has so far signed deals to supply 570 million doses worldwide in 2021, with options to deliver 600 million more. It hopes to supply at least 1.3 billion in 2021.
It is to be noted that Bahrain had already granted emergency-use authorization for a Chinese vaccine made by Sinopharm and has inoculate some 6,000 people with it.
Prior to this, United Kingdom (UK) became the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for use and said that it will be rolled out from early next week.
