Local authorities, on Thursday, sealed 52 shops in different areas of Lahore over violation of COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines issued by the government.
According to details, around 45 shops in Shah Alam Market and seven shops in Chungi Amar Sadhu have been sealed by the district administration for not abiding to the social distancing measures recommended by the government.
The sealed shops were found to be doing business without the use of face masks and gloves by both the shopkeepers and customers.
Sources say that the district administration has formed 10 teams to test shopkeepers for the virus.
Earlier, on Wednesday, authorities had sealed various markets in Karachi, including Zainab Market, Victoria Market, Madina City and International Market in Saddar, Gul Plaza and Al Haram Centre in Garden and Jillani Centre in Aram Bagh. Assistant commissioner Saddar Asif Raza Chandio supervised the action and stated, “The SOPs that the government had issued were not being followed by both the shopkeepers and the customers.
