An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati on Friday in the judicial complex clashes case.
Earlier, a pre-arrest bail application was filed on behalf of the PTI leader Azam Swati who also appeared in the court along with his lawyer Babar Awan.
Babar Awan maintained that his client Azam Khan was named in the FIR on political grounds, and the case was registered under a calculated plan, which does not justify the imposition of a terrorism provision.
Awan pleaded to the court that his client was not even present at the scene during the incident; therefore, his bail should be approved.
The court then granted bail to Azam Swati on a surety bond of Rs 50,000 and adjourned the hearing of the case till April 5.
ATC Grants Bail to 64 PTI Workers in Judicial Complex Violence Case
Meanwhile ATC on Friday also granted bail to Amjad Khan Niazi (Imran Khan’s close relative) and 63 other workers of PTI in a case pertaining to violence in the premises of the Federal Judicial Complex last Saturday (March 18) when the ex-prime minister Imran Khan appeared in the Complex for a court hearing.
ATC (Anti-Terrorism Court) judge Raja Jawad Abbasi accepted the request of the PTI leaders and workers and instructed them to submit surety bonds worth Rs50,000.
