Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday, acquitted Lyari gang war leader Uzair Baloch in two cases.
During the hearing, the court ruled that the prosecution has failed to produce substantial evidence against Uzair Baloch. The court noted that it cannot indict the accused without any significant evidence against him.
The court then acquitted Lyari gang war kingpin in two cases citing lack of evidence.
Uzair Baloch was accused in two different cases namely, attempt to murder and police encounter case registered at Kalakot and Chakiwara police stations respectively.
The cases were registered back in 2012.
Prior to this, ATC had indicted Uzair Baloch for the murder of Fawad Khan SHO Civil Lines on September 26th 2020. Uzair Baloch was also indicted in Arshad Pappu murder case on August 26th 2020.
It is pertinent to know that Baloch was arrested by the Rangers on January 30th 2016. He was then handed over to the Pakistan Army in April 2017 after he was accused of espionage. The Army handed him over to the police on April 6th 2020 after three years.
