At least 25 school children were rushed to hospital in Islamabad after fainting due to extreme heat and loadshedding.
As per details, 25 students belonging from a school in Islamabad’s Bara Kahu locality, fainted in wake of sweltering heat, a situation which was further compounded by loadshedding.
Several students suffered from nose bleeds, while others fainted due to intense heat. The students were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the teachers at the school were seen pouring water on children’s heads to lower students’ body temperature and counter the heatwave effects.
Following the incident, the 200 schoolchildren were allowed to go home from the Federal Government School.
The development comes as Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of extreme hot and dry weather across the country.
The temperature reached 43 °C in Lahore on Wednesday (today) with similar temperatures in various parts of Balochistan and Sindh as well.
The extreme weather situation has been further exacerbated by the fact that country is experiencing a power shortfall of around 4,000 megawatts (MW) resulting in prolonged power outages across the country.
