Aslam R Khan has been appointed as new Chairman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) following the approval of PM Imran Khan.
As per details, the decision to appoint Aslam R Khan as new PIA Chairman was approved during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by PM Imran Khan on Tuesday (today).
Aslam Khan has previously served as Chairman PIACL Board and Managing Director PIA Investments limite – a position he held for 14 years.
During the federal cabinet meeting, the draft for Public Property Encroachment Bill 2021 was also approved along with the appointment of Executive Director of National Vocational and Technical Training Commission.
Prior to this, it was reported that the national carrier is set to acquire wo new aircraft (Airbus A320-200s) from Seraph Aviation Group, an Ireland-based dedicated aviation asset management firm and financial adviser.
The two new aircrafts will be Airbus A320-200s.
Meanwhile, PIA has also announced that it will be resuming of direct flights from Pakistan to Toronto, Canada.
The national carrier will operate three direct flights per week from Pakistan to Toronto with strict implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and preventive measures.
The development comes as earlier Canadian authorities had banned passenger flights from Pakistan citing COVID-19 concerns.
