An accountability court on Friday, has announced to indict Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Park Lane reference on July 6.
During the hearing of Park Lane reference against the former president, the court deferred Asif Ali Zardari’s indictment and adjourned the case till July 6 announcing that the indictment will be carried out via video link on the given date.
The accountability court has ordered Asif Ali Zardari to appear before the court, however, Mr Zardari’s lawyer Farooq H Naik cited health concerns amid COVID-19 pandemic and asked the court to award exemption to his client from court appearance.

“Coronavirus has spread in the country and older people are likely to be more infected with the virus. Both Zardari and his sister are over 60-years-old,” said Farooq H Naik.
The court then adjourned the case till July 6, and had directed authorities to make necessary preparations and measures for the indictment hearing will be carried out via video link due to coronavirus threat and its resulting unprecedented circumstances.
It is to be noted that PPP co-chairman and former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur have been accused of extending loan and its misappropriation by M/s Parthenon Private Limited, M/S Park Lane Estate Private Limited and are being tried by NAB under NAB Ordinance, 1999, and the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010.
