Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari appeared before accountability court in Rawalpindi on Monday (today), to be indicted on September 9 in Toshakhana case.
Former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari appeared before an accountability court in Islamabad today over Toshakhana Case filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against him.
Thee PPP co-chairman was accompanied by his lawyer Farooq H Naek and several other party leaders including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari Senator Sherry Rehman, Qamar Zaman Kaira.
More than 1,000 security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order situation on the occasion, and only a limited number of people were authorized to enter the court complex.
Meanwhile, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari directed party workers and even lawyers’ assistants to leave the court room in accordance with social distancing measures in wake of coronavirus threat.
The court then announced its decision to indict Asif Ali Zardari in Toshakhana case on September 9th, whereas Anwar Majeed and Abdul Ghani Majeed of Omni group and former PM Yousaf Raza Gilani have also been summoned in the indictment hearing.
It is pertinent to know that NAB has accused Yousaf Raza Gilani of misusing his authority as the prime minister of Pakistan by allowing government vehicles to be used by Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari for their personal use.
NAB has already suspended the ownership of three of the vehicles belonging to the Asif Ali Zardari, which include two BMWs and one Lexus luxury car
