Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Asad Umar has warned off fourth COVID-19 wave to in Pakistan by July next month.
Asad Umar took to social media to highlight the possibility of a fourth COVID-19 wave in Pakistan in wake of public’s failure from adhering to strict COVID-19 SOPs.
The federal minister noted that the artificial intelligence (AI) based disease modeling analysis has predicted that a fourth COVID-19 wave might very well hit Pakistan by next month.
Asad Umar urged the people to strictly follow COVID-19 SOPs and get themselves and their loved ones vaccinated against the novel virus as soon as possible.
Pakistan is currently utilizing a total of six COVID-19 vaccines namely Sinopharm, CansinoBio, Sputnik V, Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinovac to carryout nation-wide inoculation drive against the novel virus.
It is to be noted that following NCOC’s approval, people aged 18 and are now able to avail the walk-in COVID-19 vaccination facility across the country.
As per NCOC statistics, 11,440,648 people have been partially vaccinated against COVID-19 with 2,725,240 people being fully vaccinated against the novel virus with the country administering a total of 14,165,288 COVID-19 vaccine doses in total.
Pakistan’s total COVID-19 tally stands at 952,907 cases with 22,152 deaths so far. A total of 897,834 people have successfully recovered from the novel virus, whereas 2,029 are still in critical condition.
