Asad Umar – Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, on Monday, urged the sugar inquiry commission to summon him instead of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Responding to PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s statement asking the inquiry commission to summon Prime Minister Imran Khan, Asad Umar stated that the decisions were made by cabinet on the recommendations of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), and hence Prime Minister Imran Khan cannot be held accountable directly in this matter.
Taking to social media, Asad Umar offered the inquiry commission to summon and question him if needed.
It is to be noted that on Friday, PML-N leader, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, had recorded his statement to Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) sugar inquiry commission headed by DG FIA Wajid Zia.
Mr Abbasi has blamed Prime Minister of being directly responsible for the sugar crisis and has accused him and his cabinet of corruption and profiteering from it.
