Tariq Mehmood, accused in Arshad Malik video case, will soon be released after obtaining bail from Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.
As per the details, IHC bench comprising of Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamer Farooq heard Arhsad Mehmood’s plea bail in Arshad Malik video case.
The court, citing insufficient evidence in the case and the failure of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in building a convincing case, announced its decision to grant bail to Tariq Mehmood.
“You have nothing but witness statements against the suspect,” remarked Justice Aamer Farooq.
Tariq Mehmood has been instructed by the court to submit Rs 100,000 surety bond for bail.
Tayyab Shah – Deputy Attorney General, who also attended the hearing, was reprimanded by the court over the prosecution’s failure to satisfy the court regarding basic queries pertaining to the case.
It is to be noted that Tariq Mehmood is accused of secretly filming unethical video of judge Arshad Malik and then blackmailing him for political reasons.
Tariq Mehmood was arrested by FIA on July 17 2019 in matters pertaining to this case.
Arshad Malik video scandal surfaced when Maryam Nawaz released video of judge Arshad Malik, where he was found confessing that he was coerced into convicting Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia mills case.
