Pakistan Army is assisting civil administration across the country in dealing with coronavirus outbreak and resulting multiple crisis.
According to the statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), “Pakistan army troops assisting civil administration in containment efforts of COVID-19 across the country. Troops are busy in relief efforts and distribution of more than 350000 Army assistance packages (containing basic food items) purchased through contributions of Army’s announced salary donation for COVID-19 affected people in various areas of Pakistan to daily wagers, handicapped, labourers, widows & needy people including far flung areas.”
As per the details, ration and relief packages have been distributed in various areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions.
Prior to this COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa has announced that PIA employees that have contracted COVID-19 will be treated at combined military hospital (CMH).
Army’s assistance comes as civil administration and institutions have been struggling to cope with the continuous influx of new COVID-19 patients. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country have jumped to 14,885 with 327 deaths so far.
