Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa mulled over issues pertaining to regional security and Afghan peace process during a telephonic conversation with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd J. Austin III.
During the telephonic conversation, US Secretary of Defence Lloyd J. Austin III highlighted the significance of Pak-US bilateral relations.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa reassured that hat Pakistan will always support “Afghan led-Afghan Owned” Peace Process based on mutual consensus of all stakeholders. He also reiterated that peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan.

Lloyd J. Austin III also praised Pakistan’s notable contribution and support for Afghan Peace Negotiations. The two also mulled over US troops withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Furthermore, Army Chief and US Secretary of Defence discussed regional security issues and highlighted the significance of peace and stability.
The two also reaffirmed mutual desire to continue working together for uniform geo-political and security goals and objectives.
