Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has declared appointments made in Sindh without Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) as ‘illegal’.
While hearing a case regarding permanent appointments of government officers in Sindh at SC Karachi Registry, the top court reprimanded Sindh government over appointment of officers at BPS-17 and above without SPSC exams.
The apex court has directed Sindh government to submit its reply on the matter by June 17th, Thursday this week.
SC remarked that contract employees can only secure permanent status via SPSC exams.
The court’s decision will be based on law regardless of the mechanism Sindh government has established for these appointments, remarked the court.
The court the declared appointments made by Sindh government on BPS-17 and above without SPSC exams as ‘illegal’.
The development comes as Sindh High Court (SHC) in its verdict in April earlier this year, had announced that contract officers from grade 16 and above cannot be regularized without clearing the SPSC exams.
