Omni group head Anwar Majeed on Wednesday, secured bail from Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on medical grounds.
The two-member SC bench headed by Justice Masheer Alam heard the bail plea petition filed by Anwar Majeed.
During the hearing, the court accepted Anwar Majeed’s bail plea on medical grounds and allowed him to travel abroad for medical treatment.
The top court has directed Anwar Majeed’s name to be removed from Exit Control List (ECL).
Furthermore, Anwar Majeed has been instructed to submit his passport to the registrar office along with a bank guarantee worth up to Rs 100 million in assurance of his continued cooperation with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in fake accounts investigation.
Anwar Majeed and his company Omni group is accused of owning fake bank accounts that benefitted Zardari group (Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur) who received Rs 15 million via these fake accounts, whereas a total of Rs35 billion is reported to have been transacted using fake accounts, said an FIA report.
