The National Assembly (NA) passed Anti-Terrorism (third amendment) bill 2020 on Tuesday (today).
The Anti-Terrorism (third amendment) bill 2020 is aimed at improving investigation process and will ensure the conclusion of money laundering probe within 60, post approval from the relevant court.
During the session, opposition benches protested against the tabling of the bill as it was tabled as a supplementary agenda and no prior information was given to the opposition parties regarding it.
The development comes as a joint session is scheduled for Wednesday (tomorrow) at 4:00 pm to mull over legislative issues related to Financial Action Task Force (FATF) guidelines.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Standing Committee of Senate on Interior Affairs has also been summoned to get the necessary approval for the FATF-related bills.
It is pertinent to mention that Senate on August 25th last month had turned downed two Financial Action Task Force (FATF) related bills after opposition from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
