Another Pakistani fisherman in illegal Indian custody has reportedly passed away after being incarcerated for more than three years.
The 22-year-old fisherman named Teji was apprehended by Indian forces three years back for fishing near the Indian waters.
The dead body of the deceased has been handed over to Edhi Foundation via Wagah Border and has been shifted to a morgue run by the organization.
Pakistani fishermen, who unfortunately stray in the vast Arabian Sea are often taken into custody by Indian authorities for ‘illegally entering Indian waters’.
The fishermen are then incarcerated in abysmal living conditions in Indian jails and are denied bail/release by Indian courts as a result of their prejudice against Pakistan.
In April 2019, four fishermen died in the Indian captivity in a month.
Another Pakistani national Muhammad Sohail died in an Indian jail and added that he was the fourth Pakistani, who died in Indian custody during a short span of one month, said Fishermen’s Co-operative Society.
Muhammad Sohail went fishing over two years ago and was taken into custody by Indian forces on October 2nd 2016.
According to Fishermen’s Co-operative Society spokesperson, at least 108 Pakistani fishermen were still imprisoned in different jails in India.
