Pakistan and India exchanged details regarding each other’s nuclear installations, facilities on Friday (today).
According to the statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Pakistan and India have exchanged details regarding their nuclear facilities and installations as part of mutual interesting between the two nuclear armed neighbors.
The exchange of nuclear facilities, installations list was made in accordance with Article-II of the Agreement on Prohibition of Attacks against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between Pakistan and India, signed on 31st December 1988.
A list of Pakistan’s nuclear facilities, installations was handed over to a representative of Indian High Commission at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
Meanwhile, India handed over details regarding its nuclear facilities to a representative of Pakistan High Commission in India.
Furthermore, Pakistan and India also exchanged lists of prisoners being held by both countries. Pakistan apprised India that it holds 319 Indian citizens as prisoners including of which 270 were fishermen.
Meanwhile, India provided its list of 340 Pakistani prisoners of which 77 are fishermen.
This step is consistent with the provisions of the Consular Access Agreement between Pakistan and India, signed on 21 May 2008, under which both countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody twice a year, on 1st January and 1st July, respectively.
